The Malaysian subsidiary of Danish Carlsberg posted a 22 percent slide in profit; sales rose
The company said that net profit in the second quarter of 2009 came in a RM12.88 million, 21.7 percent lower than in the same period last year. The company attributed the slide to higher commodity costs, lower interest rates for own deposits and unfavorable forex rates.
The brewer’s sales, however, rose by 7.1 percent to RM213.14 million, benefiting from higher domestic sales. (bmg)
